Welcome to Karberg & Schmitz - the best for your vessel!

When Erik Karberg developed the first steering gear together with the Danish company Svendborg back in 1956, success for the longstanding development of the company was not yet foreseeable. However, after gaining numerous customers nearby as well as on the North and Baltic Sea coasts, Erik Karberg and Walther Schmitz decided to found the company Karberg & Schmitz in 1960.

Shortly afterwards came representation of other Danish manufacturers and their products for use in ship engine rooms, such as boilers from Aalborg Vaerft. With this both founders laid the foundations for the course of today's old-established trading house. Further renowned domestic and foreign suppliers from the marine and land sectors placed their trust in Karberg & Schmitz's growing know-how and exclusive German representation.

Today Karberg & Schmitz offers you extensive services: From planning, consulting and sales of products through to support when it comes to processing and care within the guarantee period. At Karberg & Schmitz you also receive support for worldwide spare parts services as well as other services - both quickly and reliably.

The company's headquarters have been in Hamburg from the very beginning - close to many old-established shipping companies - and it remains 100% privately owned.

In September 2008 the managing owner Axel Jacob has been awarded the "Diploma of the Danish Export Association and His Royal Highness Prince Henrik's Medal of Honour" in recognition of effort in promoting and marketing Danish products and services abroad. The honorable prices are award since 1982 to foreign business partners engaged in the Danish export.
